The dream of another life ...
We, Hans & Anette met 8 years ago. We spent many dinners thinking and talking about how we wanted to live in the future. "Life is only here and now" and there will be no going on. Anette had lived abroad at a young age and had a longing to return. We traveled to many different countries and places and felt for. The longing for one's own place and to start a new era grew stronger. One of our trips went to Portugal and back to Lisbon. We stood on the roof terrace of a fantastic hotel and said "- Why not Portugal that has it all?" A wonderful climate, good food, genuine environments and a nice population and also cheap to live. The country simply had everything! The questions became many, when, where, how? In the end, we decided to book a trip to the southern part of the Algarve coast and experience the microclimate here.
Travel booked and house tours were booked with the broker Gunnel who himself moved to Portugal 35 years ago. Gunnel asked many questions and booked us on several house tours and also to the small hotel Quinta do Pedro, which at the time, mostly felt like an unattainable dream.

Love at first sight
We knew that if we moved, we did not want to "just be" but we wanted to create and work with something we are really passionate about. Anette had long had a longing and dream of running a B&B or small hotel. Our first stop on our tour with Gunnel would be at the small hotel Quinta do Pedro. There we had a wonderful time with coffee and a "pastel de nata" with the owner Peter. It was an unforgettable meeting. The picturesque village of Arroteia reminded Anette of her childhood in Geneva. We stepped into the small hotel, completely without expectations, but once indoors we just looked at each other and we both exclaimed "- We buy it!". Love at first sight!
There were simply no more house tours. This was our dream! Now started a new era in our lives where we sat at the hotel in Tavira and decided to sell our houses at home in Sweden, keep the summer house in Halland and invest in our new life in Portugal.
